Lake Wallenpaupack is a reservoir for a hydroelectric project. A reservoir is a large lake used to store water. Water is transported from Lake Wallenpaupack to the power plant 3.5 miles away. The flow of water is directed to the turbines. The turbines are connected to the generator. When the turbines spin, the generator creates electricity. There are two turbines which have the capability of generating 44 megawatts of electricity. That is enough to power about 35,000 homes!
